I did not make any New Year’s resolutions.

Instead, I am trying a different exercise, suggested to me by Chris Brogan. Well, to me and the thousands of others who read his blog, follow his tweets, and subscribe to his newsletter.

Here’s how it works:

No resolutions. No goals. Just three words.

Pick three words that you would like to use as guides for the coming year. Three words that will help you advance on your path or move in a new direction.

While I was thinking about it, I asked the Sheriff what his three words would be. He said:

‘No French Fries’.

Funny guy that husband.

So, what are your three words?

I’ll go first:

1. Continue
This is a word I got from Maya Angelou. I heard a great interview with her once and, at the end, the host asked if Maya had any final words of advice. She simply said ‘Continue’.

It’s such a strong word and it’s so clear in its meaning. So, even if I don’t know exactly where I am going, if I feel as if I am on the right path, I continue.

I am on the right path.

2. Share
I want everyone to have enough. It will never happen but I will do my part and encourage others to do the same by creating new ways to give. Promise.

3. Dots
I want to connect them. Mine and yours. Here.

What are your three words?  (May I have your permission to share them?)
