Last night I slept with a woman I didn’t even know and you know what?

I’m proud of it.

I’m not being altogether truthful when I say I didn’t know her at all before I slept with her. I mean, I did know her name but I hadn’t even met her when I decided to hook up with her in a hotel room in Vegas.

Why would I do such a thing? Well, I thought, why not?

I’m going to be at a convention for two or three days, I really don’t know anyone here and they don’t know me, and hey, it IS Vegas after all.

I know what some of you are thinking. What about the Sheriff?

Well, no worries. One of the reasons I decided to sleep with someone else is because the Sheriff isn’t here. But he and I have no secrets so I did tell him in advance and, even though it’s not the kind of thing he might do, he understands our differences, including my need to just be out here in the world, trying new things.

Plus, the Sheriff knows that I am working really hard to start a new business and if sleeping with someone I don’t even know could help, he trusts my judgment and says ‘Go for it!’

The other possible downside is that I could catch something. I did think about that.

I’m here for BlogWorld and speaking on Friday so that would definitely be a drag. Plus, when I leave here, I’m meeting the Sheriff in San Francisco and I certainly wouldn’t want to ruin our vacation by passing anything on to him. But, I had slept with a bunch of people on the flight to come out here, so I figured what the heck.

Sometimes you’ve just got to throw caution to the wind and take a chance.

So now I am typing this on the bathroom floor of my hotel room in the middle of the night because I just couldn’t wait to tell you all about it!

The ParmFarm is about personal and professional growth, which often means taking risks. And, who am I if I don’t practice what I preach?

So, here are the 7 reasons I’m glad I slept with a woman I didn’t even know:

1. First, her name. Annabel Candy. If you’re going to Vegas to sleep with someone you don’t even know they should have a name like that.

2. Annabel really gets around so I thought she could teach me a thing or two. She’s living in Australia now but she’s also lived in Costa Rica, France, England, the U.S. and Thailand – and those are just the places I can remember off the top of my head.

3. Annabel is a blogger so I knew we had at least one thing in common. I’ve been a bit depressed lately, she’s got a fabulous smile, and I thought we might both enjoy it.

4. The name of her blog is ‘Get in the Hot Spot’. Need I say more?

5. I’ve been following her blog now for quite some time and she often writes about liking to try new things. My kind of woman!

6. When I realized she might be coming to BlogWorld, I wrote to Annabel, inviting her to sleep with me. I did think that maybe it was a little forward of me and she might think it odd but she not only accepted the offer – she wrote about it on her blog.

7. And last but not least, we ran into another friend of Annabel’s last night in the lobby, Andrea Martins, who blogs at She was on her way to a place called ‘Get Nailed’, and invited us to join her so we made it a threesome!

So, I have no regrets whatsoever.

The whole experience served as a much needed reminder that you’ve got to take a little risk, to reap great rewards.

Annabel is every bit the woman I expected she would be — kind, generous, funny, interesting –and Andrea was icing on the cake.

Wait a minute. It suddenly occurs to be that you might misunderstand what I have written.

When I say that I am sleeping with Annabel Candy I mean JUST that. We are sharing a hotel room. Two queen beds. Get your minds out of the gutter people!

And, oh, the Getting Nailed thing?? It’s a nail salon.

Shame. Shame.
